What does Silvica mean and what do we blog about?
The name Silvica has its origin from the forestry terminology ‘silvics’ (from Latin) which means ‘the characteristics that define the life history, growth and behavior of a tree species’. Just like a tree species, we believe that each project is unique and requires customized solutions. As such, we take time to research and understand the ‘life history, growth and behavior’ of each project that we are consulted to undertake.
Silvica is registered as a sole proprietorship under the name Silvica Green with the office of Attorney General, Kenya. Our focus is using blog as the platform of promoting sustainable development.
Generally, our blog posts are in the four broad areas of:
- Project Management: It includes grant writing, conceptualizing, implementation and M&E of environmental/community-based projects
- Content Development: It includes processes of creating researched and written content that is used for reports, digital marketing, conducting training and online classes, white papers or E-Books.
- Environmental management: It encompasses natural resources management solutions, feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments and audits, corporate social responsibility consultancy (CSR), organizational sustainability, sustainable tourism and dissemination of environmental education.
- Community-development: it encompasses social impact assessments, community development projects, CSR, community-based tourism consultancy in Kenya, and training the youth on sustainability.
Silvica’s main writer is a Ph.D. student with over 10-years working experience who has access to accomplished professionals in the environmental management and planning field.
